My name is Danique van Asselt and I grew up in a village called Heerde in The Netherlands. When I was young I often watched programs on Animal Planet and I remember that I was so impressed with all the animals and I knew immediately that I wanted to do something with it later in life.

That is why I studied Animal care and I finally had the chance to see those animals up close and to make a difference in their lives. The more I learnt about animals in the wild the more I felt responsible to help save endangered species.

This year I have a gap year and I have decided to go to New Zealand, because the nature there is incredible and the kiwi's are known for their kindness and hospitality. My plan is to work there and travel for the last couple of weeks. When I did my research about New Zealand I came across of a lot charities that they have for restoring and protecting the nature as well to save animals that have declined in numbers and if nothing changes are likely to go extinct.

I would like to contribute to these charities in whatever way I can, this is why I created a crowdfund so I can volunteer my time or directly give them donations to help their cause. While I do this join me on my journey as I keep everyone updated with my blog. I will write about the whole trip, from beginning to end. I might make some vlogs as well so you can actually see what I am doing for the charities and where your money is being used for. You can also find background information about the charities I might go (this depends on the time I have and where help is needed) to give you an idea what they do and what they stand for.
